AppWorks: Business Process Management Suite (BPMS)
with low-code development tools

From strategy to business success, there is a long way to go: We know the shortcuts. BPM is more than just a tool or methodology. By implementing a suitable BPM strategy, corporate goals can be achieved much faster than with conventional approaches - especially in the field of Digital Transformation. When selecting tools, as they say: 'what's better' is the enemy of 'what's good'. In the BPM environment, many BPMS solutions are offered - but few deliver what they promise when it comes to implementing the BPM strategy at all levels. In order to be able to act quickly and agile in the melting pot between business model, business strategy and IT infrastructure, OpenText AppWorks is a proven tool, as it includes all the necessary levels for orchestrating business processes as well as IT applications. This makes it easier and faster to implement strategies.

The BPMS Tools

OpenText has developed with AppWorks (formerly known as Cordys Process Suite) the next generation of the Business Operations Platform to provide a business process management (BPMS) solution that can fully support the way a company does business and bring business and IT worlds together. The Business Operations Platform is a comprehensive offering that includes business process design, execution, monitoring, and improvement. The platform is designed to enable managers to implement agile business processes to achieve business goals faster and more securely. Goal achievement is made possible through process improvements in areas such as automation, control, transparency in process metrics, and monitoring of real-time business activities. At the same time, AppWorks (BPMS) helps IT managers and developers to quickly model new processes and integrate them into the entire company's business process landscape.

Collaboration between Business and IT

The OpenText AppWorks BPMS improves the collaboration between Business and IT. The AppWorks user interface is completely web-based, making it much easier to collaborate, especially when the business and IT teams are located in different geographic locations. The joint process models of AppWorks (BPMS) make it possible to optimize the coordination between Business and IT and to optimize the defined service agreements for the process implementation of top-down business process design components to the bottom-up technical services. This unique approach ensures that the company has a firm grip on the processes. In addition, AppWorks allows business managers to work with models that are up-to-date and that these models actually represent the real processes.

Operational Excellence

OpenText AppWorks (BPMS) provides a unified view of the business with the Composite Application Framework (CAF) and Enterprise Master Data Management (MDM). Thanks to the integrated Business Activity Monitoring (BAM), the implemented processes can be monitored as required. This level of visibility makes the interactive business process improvement a reality. Finally, Cordys enables comprehensive process audits that help decision makers implement better governance processes. This is necessary to better meet external and internal regulations and quality standards such as SOX, six Sigma, HIPAA or Basel II.

Process Modeling

Business Process Modeling (BPMS)

The Business Process Management System (BPMS) is one of the major components of OpenText AppWorks. Successful companies today must be agile, that is to say, to understand change as a continuous process. Unfortunately, even today, many IT landscapes are built for eternity. OpenText AppWorks (process Platform) provides process modeling tools to bridge the gap between agile business requirements and rigid IT systems through a powerful, Next-Gen software platform. From the business side, the processes can be orchestrated safely and flexibly without losing control. The process platform ensures direct control over its ongoing processes and enables coordination between Business and IT. AppWorks is unique in its ability to meet IT and business requirements equally. Learn more +

Dynamic Case Managment (DCM)

Dynamic Case Management (BPMS)

Dynamic Case Management (DCM) in the BPMS

Workflow is so yesterday. With classic BPMS solutions, only repetitive processes can be mapped sensibly, with non-repetitive processes, classical BPMS solutions offer no benefit. It's a different story with AppWorks Dynamic Case Management. Unstructured processes, whose steps have to be determined by knowledge workers (e.g. doctors, claims specialists, support specialists) can be structured using Dynamic Case Management and designed in such a way that the productivity of knowledge workers can be massively increased, while at the same time ensuring traceability.

Master Data Management (MDM)

Master Data Management (MDM)

Manage your critical business data in a unified, single-source platform with AppWorks Master Data Management (MDM). Today's business world is changing rapidly and the challenges of globalization require not only agility but also absolute quality, consistency and reliability of data and information. Master Data Management increases the flexibility, control, and visibility of end-to-end business processes.

Advantages of MDM

• Synchronization of data according to defined rules from different sources
  across applications, departments and locations
• Shows individual views of relevant master data
• Enables real-time monitoring of business processes that span multiple application silos
• Publishes information for critical business processes in a timely manner

With MDM, you can build trusted data hubs and target your organization's needs and goals. Identify sources and consumers. By creating a data governance program, you ensure that process quality can be sustainably improved.

Application Areas: Master data synchronization, data consolidation, data aggregation, and publication of critical business process information. Especially important for organizations that deal with e-business, the enrichment of data in a product catalog for online shops, compliance issues and risk management. MDM provides a process-oriented approach to information management.

OpenText AppWorks Master Data Management-Tools offers

• Near real-time data synchronization
• Master data and business object lifecycle management
• Event-driven object lifecycle management

Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) / SOA

Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)

Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)

The OpenText AppWorks Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is the ideal tool for building a service-oriented IT architecture. With just a few steps, you can meet new business needs, continually reduce the cost of the IT, respond agile and flexible to change, and leverage the tool to seamlessly integrate internal and external applications and cloud services.

Traditional ESB implementations use a hub-and-spoke architecture where all back-end systems (spokes) rely on a hub. A hub failure causes the entire system to fail. Not so with the AppWorks ESB. It uses grid technology to avoid a single point of failure. At the same time, performance increases with each additional hub in the cluster. This unique technology enables each orchestrated SOA service to operate loosely coupled and distributed on a bus with highest availability. This guarantees fail-over security and scalability.

If any of the following challenges and issues apply to your organization, consider an SOA architecture and use of the ESB:

• Huge investment in the IT infrastructure and applications with disappointing ROI.
• current functionality utilization could help increase ROI on existing investments.
• The market requires rapid response to new requirements, you need more agility.
• Adapting the IT infrastructure and applications to new business requirements is too slow (time to change) and far too expensive (cost of change).

With the ESB, companies can overcome these limitations. Learn more +

Composite Application Framework (CAF)

Composite Application Framework (CAF)

The Composite applications Framework (CAF) is a component of the OpenText AppWorks. It enables you to integrate different data sources, legacy systems, business software, and web content into a personalized, process-oriented workplace. It provides a unified, personalized view of the web-based application. The Composite Application Framework supports organizations by increasing employee productivity through the application.

    • Rich Internet Applications
    • In a heterogeneous application environment, the interfaces between the individual applications are usually missing, leading to media breaks and 'Application Hopping'. The complexity of finding reliable data increases and the productivity of employees decreases. The CAF offers one of the most advanced rich Internet Application (RIA) frameworks and allows to easily and quickly implement innovative, process-oriented web application methods and publish them on the intranet or the internet.

      • Strengthening the role of knowledge workers
      • The CAF provides a personalized UI framework for connecting applications in a single interface. It consolidates and presents structured and unstructured information, operational data and user interactions in a single workplace. CAF enables employees to create ‚rich composite internet applications‘ and end-user mashups based on the latest Web User Interface technologies. By using modern standards such as HTML5, CSS3 and restful API, AppWorks enables powerful web applications to be implemented quickly and easily.

        • Connect internal and external users
        • The Composite Application Framework is used to connect and interact with internal and external users and stakeholders. Embedded in corporate websites and other portals can thus be ensured that information is addressed correctly and seamless interaction with suppliers, agents, customers and external experts in the process chain is possible.
